Sportswear Ph.D. highlights

It was great to be given the opportunity to study at Loughborough University Sports Technology Institute under Professor Mike Caine. The Loughborough Sports Technology Institute is perhaps the largest, greatest and most diverse academic sports technology research group in the world.

I completed the Ph.D. research in 2008, focussing on the development of sportswear textile test methods that aim to replicate the real-life scenario. The outcome was a series of rugby shirt tests that can be implemented by rugby shirt manufacturers to ensure their rugby shirts meet the rigorous demands of the game. The research and test methods are applicable to a range of sports.

The title:

"EXPLORING THE POTENTIAL FOR FUNCTIONAL ENHANCEMENT OF RUGBY UNION SHIRTS THROUGH THE DEVELOPMENT AND IMPLEMENTATION OF SPORTS-SPECIFIC TEXTILE TEST METHODS"
